The Phantom Menace introduced the droid army of the Trade Federation, and with it a host of odd little vehicles. The STAP, short for Single Trooper Aerial Platform, is one of the most memorable. A single battle droid stands upright on a narrow platform, gripping two handles as it skims above the ground. On Naboo, these flyers patrol the swamps and forests, and it is a pair of STAP riders that catches up with Qui-Gon Jinn and Jar Jar Binks early in the film.
