Description

A race car in miniature

The model shows the 458 Italia GT2, a racing version of a well-known Ferrari sports car. The Speed Champions scale is small enough to line up several cars on a shelf, yet large enough to fit a minifigure in the cockpit. With 156 pieces it builds quickly and takes up very little room. If you collect cars, it is a neat, compact slice of motorsport that sits comfortably next to the other models in the range and does not get lost among bigger display pieces.

Red, black, white and yellow

The four main colours are red, black, white and yellow. Red forms the bodywork, black appears mostly in the tyres and underside, and white and yellow add accents. On a race car the parts often sit at unusual angles, and a good share of the 50 different elements are slopes and curves that give the body its rounded look. It helps to sort the pieces by colour before you start building, so the many small add-on parts do not get mixed up.

Display or play

Small racers like this are sturdy enough to roll across a table, and they still look good on a shelf. The driver sits in a cockpit that is open just enough to be seen. For children it is a manageable project, and for adults a quick break between bigger builds. Collectors often put several cars from the range together as a miniature race meeting, which works even on a narrow shelf because each car needs so little space and only a handful of bricks.

Reusing the parts

This page lists all 50 different elements in the set. The red slopes and the wheels are especially useful for cars of your own design, even if the finished car looks nothing like the original. Use the “What can I build?” tool to see which models you can put together from this set and the rest of your collection, so the bricks stay in use once the display has served its purpose.
