About Rock Raiders

The story behind the sets

After their ship is damaged, the Rock Raiders have to mine crystals on an unknown planet to power their way back. Caves, lava and rock monsters stand in the way. The theme was backed by a video game of the same name in 1999, which gave the characters and machines a wider audience than most themes of the time.

Base, transporter and diggers

Rock Raiders HQ (4990-1) is the flagship with 411 pieces, and Tunnel Transport (4980-1) comes second at 351. Below them the vehicles get smaller: Chrome Crusher (4970-1) has 168 pieces, Granite Grinder (4940-1) 110 and Loader - Dozer (4950-1) 91. Rock Raiders Crew (4930-1) brings the team together in 48 pieces, while Hover Scout (4910-1, 40) and Rapid Rider (4920-1, 39) are the smallest of the eight biggest sets. All of those date from 1999.
