Frontier life in bricks

The Western theme recreates the American frontier of cowboy films. Its sets cover the classic ingredients of the genre: a small town with a sheriff and a jail, bandits hiding out in the hills, a cavalry fort and a riverside village. Brown timber buildings, grey rock formations and horses pulling wagons give the line a consistent look, so the sets combine easily into one larger landscape. The first wave arrived in 1996, with more sets following in 1997.

The biggest builds

Fort Legoredo is the largest model at 688 pieces, and it appears in the catalogue twice: as 6769-1 from 1996 and as 6762-1 from 2002, with an identical piece count. Rapid River Village follows the same pattern, listed as 6766-1 from 1997 with 354 pieces and as 6763-1 from 2002 with 356. Gold City Junction (6765-1, 352 pieces) from 1996 forms the heart of the town, while Boulder Cliff Canyon (6748-1, 257 pieces) adds rugged scenery.

Lawmen and outlaws

Much of the play value comes from the conflict between law and lawlessness. Bandit's Secret Hide-Out (6761-1, 250 pieces) gives the outlaws a base of their own, and Sheriff's Lock-Up (6755-1, 178 pieces) provides a place to put them once they are caught. Smaller sets fill the gaps with riders, carts and campsites.
