About Collectible Minifigures

A blind-bag phenomenon

The idea is simple: one figure per sealed packet, so you never know exactly which character you are getting. Series 1 launched in 2010, and each early wave offered 16 different characters, many with accessories or elements that were new at the time. Swapping duplicates, feeling packets for tell-tale shapes and buying whole boxes to complete a wave soon became part of the hobby.

Numbered waves and licensed specials

The numbered line runs from Series 1 to Series 29 in the catalogue. Alongside it are themed series tied to films and franchises: The LEGO Movie, The Simpsons, Disney and Disney 100, The LEGO Batman Movie, Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts, Marvel, Looney Tunes, The Muppets, Dungeons & Dragons, Spider-Man - Across the Spider-Verse and Shrek. Sport has its own entries too, with Team GB, the German DFB Minifigures and Formula 1.

What sits directly in this theme

Besides the series, 1,005 sets are filed under the main theme, dated 2008 to 2020. The largest are packs rather than single figures: the Minifigure Beach Accessory Pack (850449-1) with 64 pieces and Rock Band (850486-1) with 62, both from 2012. More recent examples are the Summer Celebration Minifigure Set (40344-1, 2019, 45 pieces) and the Fairground Minifigure Accessory Set (40373-1, 2020, 51 pieces). There are also boxed collections such as VIP Top 5 Boxed Minifigures (850458-1) and The LEGO Batman Movie Minifigure Collection (5004939-1), as well as the Minifigure Gift Set (Target Exclusive) (5004076-1) from 2014.

Keeping track of a growing collection

With more than 50 series, it is easy to lose sight of which figures you already have. On Bricoria each figure has its own entry and parts list, which helps when sorting loose heads, hairpieces and accessories back to the right character.
