Bundles rather than models

A value pack is not a new model in its own right but a group of existing sets sold together. The names usually say as much. The Space 2 for 1 Value Pack (1530-2) from 1988 is the earliest listed here, followed by the LEGOLAND Triple Pack (1675-1) from 1990 and the Five Set Bonus Pack (1476-1) from 1991. Words like triple, combi and bonus give a hint of how many sets each one contained. Most of the bundles listed here date from the late 1980s and 1990s.

Mixing themes in the 1990s

Several bundles from the mid-1990s paired sets from two different themes. The Rescue / Ice Planet Combi Pack (1722-1) and the Castle / Pirates Combi Pack (1723-1) both date from 1994, and the Space/Castle Value Pack (1843-1) followed in 1996. The Super Value Pack (4127417-1) appeared in 1999. The theme then stretches all the way to 2024, when the Flower Garden & Beach Cleanup Bundle (GWP-1) was released, showing that the idea of selling sets together has come back again and again over more than three decades.
