Tall cranes have been a recurring highlight, adding height to a layout in a way few vehicles can. Building Crane (7905-1) arrived in 2006 with 721 pieces, and Yellow Mobile Construction Crane (60409-1) from 2024 raised the bar to 1,116. The 2025 Heavy-Duty Recovery Tow Truck with Crane (60467-1), with 793 pieces, brings lifting gear to a roadside recovery scene instead of a building site.

Sites rather than single vehicles

Several of the biggest sets recreate an entire work area. Construction Site (7633-1) from 2009 has 898 pieces, Demolition Site (60076-1) from 2015 has 776, and the newest heavyweight, Dump Truck & Front End Loader (60494-1) from 2026, tops the sub-theme with 1,132 pieces. Sets like these give you machines, workers and materials in one box. Demolition Site is a reminder that the sub-theme covers tearing buildings down as well as putting them up.

Underground work

Mining forms a small branch of its own within Construction. The Mine (4204-1) from 2012 has 748 pieces, and Mining Experts Site (60188-1) from 2018 has 883, both built around drilling and hauling rock. Although small, this branch shows that Construction covers more than houses and roads.

Rebuilding older machines

Construction sets often share large specialised parts such as buckets, crane booms and tracks, which makes second-hand lots easy to mix up.
