About LEGO Originals
Patents on paper
Several entries are prints of historic patent documents. Belgian Patent LEGO Elements 1958 (5005996-1) and Spanish Patent LEGO Elements 1958 (5006001-1) date back to the year the plastic brick with its stud-and-tube coupling was patented. French Patent LEGO DUPLO Brick 1968 (5005998-1) relates to the larger Duplo brick, a decade later. These are wall pictures, so the catalogue records them with no parts. Together with the wooden toy prints they form a small timeline of the company's first decades.
Before the plastic brick
The company started out making wooden toys in Billund in the 1930s, and two prints look back to that era: 1st Edition Elephant Water Colour Print, Circa 1937 (5005997-1) and 1st Edition of Wooden Duck Print, 1958 (5005999-1). Like the patent prints, they are artworks rather than kits.
The wooden minifigure
The best-known object in the range is the Wooden Minifigure (853967-1) from 2019, a large wooden take on the classic figure that the catalogue counts as a single part. A second version, Wooden Minifigure (Colette Mon Amour Limited Edition) (853967-2), followed in 2020. The entry Parts for Wooden Minifigure (11926-1), also from 2019, has 29 pieces and is the largest item in the theme by parts count.
