Like every LEGO® Ideas set, the design started as a community submission and only went into production once it gathered enough supporter votes, which sets it apart from most sets in the regular range. A ring encircling the sphere, echoing the meridian ring found on classic floor globes, also adds to the model's overall look.

Continents built from individual bricks

The sphere is built from curved segments, with the continents added on top as separate shapes in green and brown tones, while blue marks the oceans.
