Description

More than a single-seater

Most famous Star Wars fighters carry one pilot. The ARC-170 is different: in Revenge of the Sith, it is flown by a crew of clones who share piloting and gunnery duties. That makes it larger and heavier than a typical starfighter, with long, flat wings and a sturdy hull. It sits between the Clone Wars and the later Rebel fighters, and fans often point to the family resemblance with the X-wing that appears in the original trilogy.

Over Coruscant and beyond

The opening minutes of Revenge of the Sith drop viewers straight into a battle above Coruscant, with ARC-170s swarming around the capital ships while Anakin and Obi-Wan fly towards General Grievous's flagship. Later in the film, the fighters appear again as Order 66 is carried out. The ship also plays a regular part in The Clone Wars animated series, making it one of the most recognisable Republic designs of the prequel era. Its long, flat wings make it easy to spot even in crowded battle scenes.

Colour and variety

White leads the colour list, followed by black, dark bluish grey and dark red, which adds a warm accent to an otherwise cool palette.
