Description

A new fleet in an old shape

The First Order rises from the remains of the Empire, and its fleet makes that heritage obvious. In The Force Awakens, its Star Destroyers keep the classic dagger outline of the original trilogy while growing larger and darker. For viewers who grew up with the older films, the resemblance is deliberate and instantly clear. The ship tells you who the villains are before a single character appears, which is a big part of its appeal. It also links the sequel films visually to everything that came before them.
