Description

Rebel transport for Rogue One

Rogue One introduced the U-wing as the Rebel Alliance's troop carrier. Cassian Andor flies one on the missions that lead to the theft of the Death Star plans, and several of them deliver Rebel soldiers to the beaches of Scarif for the film's final battle. The ship is less about dogfights and more about getting people in and out of dangerous places, which fits the gritty tone of the story it belongs to. Without those flights, the Rebels would never have had the plans that make victory at Yavin possible.

An unusual profile

On screen, the U-wing's wings can swing forward in flight, and from above the ship forms a rough U shape. The mini model reduces this to a broad, flat outline around a compact central hull.
