Description

An icon in miniature

Han Solo's freighter needs little introduction. It carries Luke and Obi-Wan out of Mos Eisley in A New Hope, dodges asteroids in The Empire Strikes Back and flies into the heart of the second Death Star in Return of the Jedi, before Rey takes the controls in the sequel trilogy. The saucer-shaped hull with its offset cockpit and forward mandibles is one of the most recognisable outlines in film history. That makes it an ideal candidate for a small model, because the silhouette does most of the work even when detail has to be left out. Few other ships survive being shrunk this far.

Built from repeating parts

Only 23 unique elements make up the 74 pieces, a low ratio that shows how often the same parts return. On a round, nearly symmetrical ship this is exactly what you would expect: sections of the hull are built the same way several times over. The result is an easy, relaxed build that younger fans can follow without trouble and that adults can finish in a coffee break. Without minifigures, the Falcon works as a desk ornament or a small gift rather than as a vehicle for play scenes. It fits on a windowsill or the end of a bookshelf, places where a larger Falcon would never go.

Colours and reusable pieces

Light and dark bluish grey dominate, as you would expect for the Falcon, with trans-light blue and dark red as accent colours. Transparent pieces are always handy for lights, windows and screens in your own creations, and plenty of grey is never wasted.
