Description

The real truck: an American long-haul tractor

Mack Trucks is one of the best-known American manufacturers of heavy tractor units, and the Anthem is one of its more modern long-haul models. LEGO Technic captures the distinctive boxy front with its tall grille, the long cab, and the substantial fifth-wheel coupling in brick form. Unlike many European trucks, the focus here is on the typically American cab layout, with a long bonnet ahead of the cab. Paired with the included trailer, it forms a complete rig of the kind seen on North American highways.

What the tractor and trailer actually do

As with LEGO's larger Technic vehicles, the Mack Anthem is more than a static display model. The steering wheel in the cab turns the front wheels, the bonnet opens to reveal a mock engine underneath, and the fifth wheel links tractor and trailer with a working coupling.
