Scale in reverse

The Star Destroyer works on screen because of its size: the opening shot of A New Hope lets it pass overhead for what feels like an age. A mini model turns that idea upside down, reducing the ship to something smaller than your palm. What survives is the silhouette, a flat arrowhead with a raised command tower towards the stern. That shape is so familiar that even a handful of plates and slopes is enough to suggest the full warship.

A careful little build

There are 48 unique elements among the 87 pieces, which is more than half. For a model this small, that means plenty of different shapes and few repetitive steps. Much of the work involves layering small plates and tiles to approximate the angled hull, so the build rewards patience more than speed. Without minifigures, the finished ship is really a desk or shelf model, best suited to builders who enjoy recognisable shapes in a compact form.

Bluish greys from 2004

Dark bluish grey and light bluish grey lead the parts list, joined by trans-dark blue and black.
