Description

Where the saga begins

Few ships have a more important entrance. The opening shot of A New Hope follows the Tantive IV as it races above Tatooine, pursued by an enormous Star Destroyer that swallows it whole. Darth Vader's troops storm the corridors, while Princess Leia hides the stolen Death Star plans inside R2-D2. Rogue One later shows how those plans reached the ship in the first place, so the corvette sits right at the hinge between the two films.

Hammerhead bow, long hull

The Tantive IV is a Corellian corvette, often called a blockade runner. Its shape is simple to describe: a flat, hammer-like bow, a long narrow hull and a broad bank of engines at the rear. A 56-piece model can only hint at these features, but the proportions make the ship easy to identify. The build is quick and suits beginners well. Once finished, it makes a tidy shelf piece, especially next to a small Star Destroyer.
