In The Phantom Menace, the N-1 starfighter defends Naboo against the Trade Federation. During the final battle, young Anakin Skywalker hides in the cockpit of one of these fighters, finds himself caught up in the space battle and ends up inside the droid control ship, which he destroys from within. The sleek, elongated design with its long engine nacelles reflects the elegant style of Naboo, quite different from the rugged look of Rebel ships in the original trilogy.
