Description

Where the saga begins

A New Hope opens with Darth Vader's forces boarding Princess Leia's ship. With stormtroopers closing in, R2-D2 and C-3PO climb into an escape pod and launch towards Tatooine. The Imperial gunners let it go because no life forms are detected, unaware that the pod carries the stolen Death Star plans. It is a small moment with enormous consequences, since everything that follows in the film grows out of the droids landing on the desert planet.

Old greys

White, light grey, dark grey and yellow make up the main colours. The two greys are worth a closer look: they are the original shades used before LEGO® switched to light bluish grey and dark bluish grey a few years later. If you mix pieces from this set with newer ones, the difference is visible. For collectors, colours like these are one of the easiest ways to recognise a set from the early days of the Star Wars theme.
