Description

The Empire's faster fighter

TIE Interceptors swarm the Rebel fleet during the Battle of Endor in Return of the Jedi. Compared with the familiar TIE fighter, they trade flat hexagonal panels for pointed, forward-swept wings, which gives them a much more aggressive look. Many fans regard them as the most striking Imperial fighter of the original trilogy, and they neatly represent the late stage of the Galactic Civil War, when the Empire's fleet had moved on from its earlier designs.

Parts and palette

The 92 pieces cover 35 unique elements, so plenty of shapes appear more than once, which is natural for a fighter with two mirrored wings. Light bluish grey, black and dark bluish grey lead the colour list, with a smaller amount of blue. That places the model firmly in line with other TIE craft. The build is quick and straightforward, making it suitable for a first Star Wars set as well as a short project for experienced builders.

Into battle

One minifigure is included and takes its seat in the cockpit, so the fighter is ready to play the moment it is finished. Put it up against an A-wing or X-wing from your collection and you have the core of the Endor space battle on your table. On a shelf, its small footprint means it fits easily beside larger ships, adding an Imperial presence without taking over the display or needing a stand of its own.
