Description

The Empire's signature ship

Star Destroyers dominate the original trilogy from the opening shot of A New Hope, where one fills the screen while chasing a small Rebel ship. Their long, triangular hulls and tall command towers made them the visual shorthand for Imperial power. In the Microfighter range that enormous wedge becomes something small and almost cute, yet still unmistakably Imperial. It is a playful take on a ship usually shown as overwhelming and cold, and that contrast is a big part of its appeal.

Parts and palette

The model uses 40 distinct elements across 97 pieces, a generous mix for such a small build. Light bluish grey and dark bluish grey are the main colours, joined by flat silver and trans red. The silver adds a metallic note, while trans red is the only bright colour in an otherwise sober grey scheme. Slopes and smaller specialised parts do much of the shaping, so the building steps feel more varied than the neutral colours might suggest.

Pairing it up

This set came out in 2014 as part of the very first Microfighter wave. If you own the X-wing or Millennium Falcon from the same wave, you already have a small chase scene ready to stage.
