Built from scrap

On Jakku, Rey makes her living by stripping parts from the wrecks of old warships and trading them for food. Her speeder reflects that life: a heavy, patched-together machine that carries her and her haul across the dunes. It is a small detail in the film, but it tells you a lot about the character before she says a word. Recreating it in bricks suits the idea well, since the model itself is made of many small, varied parts combined into one working whole.

The look of the model

Light and dark bluish grey dominate, with black for shadows and dark red as the accent colour. The greys give the speeder its mechanical, salvaged feel, while the dark red stops it looking plain.
