Description

A first look at Rey

When The Force Awakens reached cinemas in 2015, Rey was a new face: a self-reliant scavenger living inside a fallen AT-AT on Jakku, stripping crashed Star Destroyers for parts. A chance meeting with BB-8 and Finn sends her off-world aboard the Millennium Falcon and into the orbit of Han Solo, Chewbacca and the Resistance. This set followed a year later, when she was one of the most talked-about characters of the new trilogy and a favourite with younger fans.

Mostly unique parts

With 47 unique elements among its 84 pieces, this is a build with very little repetition. Each stage introduces new shapes, from the legs and torso to the arms and head, so it stays engaging from start to finish. The completed figure towers over any minifigure and can be posed for play or display. Because there are no minifigures in the set, all of the pieces go towards Rey herself, which keeps the focus firmly on the character.

Desert tones

Black and dark bluish grey lead the parts list, followed by dark tan and tan. Two sand shades in one set are a bonus for anyone who likes building landscapes, since they allow dunes, rock faces or mud-brick walls to be shaded rather than flat. Black and grey remain the most flexible colours in any collection, while the tan pieces are the ones most likely to spark a desert scene of your own, perhaps a small outpost on Jakku.
