Description

A different kind of TIE

Classic TIE fighters are defined by upright hexagonal wings on either side of a round cockpit. The striker breaks with that pattern: its wings are flat and angled, and the body is stretched into a longer, sleeker shape. During the battle over Scarif, strikers patrol the skies above the Imperial base as the Rebels try to steal the Death Star plans. In Microfighter form the shape is shortened and widened, but the distinctive angled wings are still easy to spot.

Plenty of variety

Out of 87 pieces, 47 are unique elements, more than half of the total. That is a high ratio for a model this small and means the build rarely repeats itself. Light bluish grey and black lead the parts list, with dark bluish grey and trans-red in support, a typical Imperial combination. The build is short enough for a younger fan to finish in one sitting, yet it still includes a few techniques that experienced builders will find neat.

Built for play

The minifigure pilot sits in the cockpit, so the fighter is ready for action as soon as it is built. Microfighters are designed to be swooshed around, and their chunky construction keeps pieces from falling off during a dogfight. Pair the striker with a Rebel ship from the same range and you have the start of a Scarif battle. As a display piece, it adds an unusual TIE variant to a shelf of more familiar Imperial craft.
