Old silhouette, new faction

From The Force Awakens onwards, First Order pilots fly an updated TIE fighter that keeps the ball cockpit and hexagonal wings but adds crisper lines and a cleaner finish. It is a deliberate echo of the original trilogy, placed in the hands of a new enemy. The Microfighter treatment compresses the design into a short, chunky model, yet the shape is still recognisable at a glance, which is exactly what makes these small sets appealing.

Built for small hands

With one minifigure seated in the cockpit, the fighter is ready for play as soon as the last piece clicks into place. Microfighters are sturdy and fit neatly into a child's hand, so they cope well with a lot of swooshing around. Face it off against a Resistance ship or the Millennium Falcon from the same range for an instant battle, or line several Microfighters up on a shelf as a colourful little fleet.

Red among the greys
