Description

Yellow in a sea of grey

Yellow leads the parts list, followed by light bluish grey, black and dark bluish grey. That alone makes the set stand out, because most Star Wars vehicles are dominated by greys and whites. The 62 pieces include 37 unique elements, well over half, so the build has plenty of variety and very little repetition for its size. The finished model is instantly recognisable by colour alone, even before you notice the shape.

The fighter that won the day

In The Phantom Menace, Naboo's pilots defend their planet against the Trade Federation. During the space battle above Naboo, a young Anakin Skywalker ends up in the cockpit of one of these fighters almost by accident and destroys the droid control ship. The starfighter's long, graceful lines and gleaming nose make it feel more like a luxury craft than a warship, a style that sets the prequel era apart from the rugged designs of the original trilogy, where fighters look patched together and worn.

Chunky by design
