Description

From The Phantom Menace

In The Phantom Menace, Darth Maul pilots the Sith Infiltrator to Tatooine in pursuit of Queen Amidala, leading to his first clash with Qui-Gon Jinn. The ship's round cockpit and folding wings have been tied to the character ever since. Here the design is squashed into the playful Microfighter style, keeping the recognisable outline while making the whole thing short, chunky and easy to hold in one hand during play. It is a fitting vehicle for a villain who says very little on screen and lets his presence do the work.

Why Microfighters work

Rather than shrinking a ship to scale, Microfighters compress it around a single minifigure, so the pilot sits prominently in an oversized cockpit. The approach keeps piece counts low while still capturing the character of each vehicle. At 92 pieces with 41 unique elements, this one offers more variety than its size suggests. It is a quick build for children and a pleasant short project for adults who collect the whole series. Collecting them all has become a small hobby of its own.

Colour and figure

Light bluish grey and dark bluish grey make up most of the parts, with black and trans-red completing the palette.
