Description

Machine versus reptile

Most Microfighters are small starfighters with an oversized cockpit. This pack breaks the pattern by setting the droids' escape pod against a dewback, the lumbering reptile that Imperial troops ride across the Tatooine desert. The pairing makes sense on screen, since the pod's landing is what sends the patrol out searching. As a build, it means you get two contrasting techniques in one box: a rounded capsule shape and an organic animal form, both squeezed into the chunky Microfighters proportions.

The numbers

The set holds 177 pieces across 68 unique parts, split between the two models. Neither build is long, which suits younger builders or anyone after a quick project. Three minifigures are included, enough to stage the search scene straight away. Because the piece count is shared, each model uses fewer elements than a standalone Microfighter, yet the 68 different moulds show a fair variety of plates, slopes and connectors rather than a pile of basic bricks.

An unusual colour lead

Sand green heads the colour list, which is not something you see often in this theme. It gives the dewback its muted, scaly look and makes the pack stand out beside the greys of the escape pod.
