The TIE fighter has no shields and no hyperdrive, yet the Empire fields them in huge numbers. That philosophy is visible in the design: a ball cockpit, two flat wing panels and nothing extra. From the chase after the Millennium Falcon in A New Hope to the battles of the sequel trilogy, some form of TIE appears in almost every chapter of the saga. Its simple silhouette makes it one of the easiest Star Wars craft to recreate at any size.

Plenty of variety in a small box

Although the set is small, 41 of its 77 pieces are unique elements. More than half the parts are different from each other, which keeps the build from feeling repetitive and makes the pieces more useful later on. The palette follows Imperial tradition: light bluish grey, dark bluish grey and black, with trans-red for small highlights.
