Description

Where the TIE Crawler comes from

You will not find this vehicle in any of the films. The TIE Crawler comes from the expanded Star Wars universe, now known as Legends, which built out the galaxy through books, comics and games. The concept is simple and slightly odd: take the spherical cockpit that every TIE shares, remove the wings and mount it between two sets of caterpillar tracks. That makes it one of the more unusual Imperial designs in the theme and an interesting outlier for any collection.

Repetition by design

Only 75 different part designs make up the 546 pieces, a low ratio that tells you a lot of elements repeat. Tracked vehicles tend to work that way, with matching left and right sides and long runs of track links. The build is steady and symmetrical, pleasant rather than demanding, and suitable for younger builders. For parts collectors, it delivers larger quantities of fewer designs, handy when you need a batch of the same element for your own model.

Black, grey and a touch of blue

Black leads the palette, with light and dark bluish grey and some blue.
