The Separatist side

Many Clone Wars sets focus on the Republic, but this one puts a Separatist machine front and centre. The droid gunship is guided by its own droid brain rather than a pilot, and it appears in Revenge of the Sith as well as in the animated series The Clone Wars. Its heavy, compact shape and side-mounted weapons make it look menacing rather than graceful. The set arrived in 2008, the year the animated series launched its first wave of LEGO® models.

What the numbers say

At 329 pieces with 105 different part designs, this is a mid-sized build with a fair amount of variety.
