Description

Hero and villain of the race

Sebulba is the favourite on the Tatooine circuit and not shy about cheating to stay ahead. Anakin, by contrast, is a slave boy racing a machine he built himself, with far more at stake than prize money. Their rivalry drives the podrace sequence in The Phantom Menace, so pairing their vehicles in one box makes obvious sense. Rather than a backdrop, you get the two machines themselves, ready to line up next to each other for a head-to-head race.

Two builds in one box

The 810 pieces, including 170 unique parts, are divided between two podracers, each made of long engines tethered to a small cockpit. That structure makes the set easy to share or to split across two sessions. The engines are where most of the work goes, since their rounded, elongated shape is assembled from many smaller elements. Five minifigures supply the pilots and a few extra characters, which is enough to stage a starting grid or a dramatic finish line.

Orange against grey

Light bluish grey, dark bluish grey and black form the engines and mechanical detail, while orange is the colour that jumps out. It matches Sebulba's podracer, famous in the film for its orange paintwork, and helps tell the two vehicles apart at a glance. For builders, it is also a welcome supply of orange parts, which many sets use only sparingly. They come in handy later for machinery, hazard markings or racing vehicles of your own.
