Why the forest matters

The climax of Return of the Jedi happens on two fronts. In orbit, the Rebel fleet attacks the second Death Star; on the forest moon below, a strike team must knock out the shield generator protecting it. With help from the Ewoks, the Rebels take on Imperial forces among the trees. This set focuses on that ground battle, which gives it a different energy from the usual ship-based releases: it is a scene with two sides, not a single vehicle.

A crowd of minifigures

Twelve minifigures is a lot for a set of just under 900 pieces, and it is the main reason many fans rate this one highly. You can field a proper force on each side instead of a lone trooper facing a lone hero. For children, that means immediate play value. For collectors building an Endor display or an Imperial army, it is an efficient way to add figures, many of which fit into other scenes from the saga as well.

Parts with a second life

Dark bluish grey, light bluish grey and black cover the Imperial hardware, while reddish brown supplies timber, tree trunks and the rustic look of Ewok construction.
