Description

Late-nineties Technic

The late nineties were a period of transition for Technic. Studded bricks with holes were still in use, but smooth studless beams were becoming more common, and many models from those years combine both. The Mag Wheel Master sits in that window. Its 315 pieces spread over 89 different part types, a notably wide range for a set of this size, so the build brings plenty of variety in connections and components. There are no minifigures; the bike is the whole story.

Blue and turquoise

According to the catalogue, black, light grey, blue and dark turquoise are the main colours. Dark turquoise was a signature accent in Technic around this time and is scarce in later sets, so parts in that shade are easy to trace back to their source. The light grey belongs to the older palette that was retired around 2004. Together, the blue and turquoise tones give the model a cool, sporty feel that contrasts with the red and yellow of earlier decades.

A twin in the catalogue

Look up set 8430 Motorbike from 2002 and you will find identical figures: the same 315 pieces, the same 89 part types and the same four main colours. Comparing the two parts lists side by side is the easiest way to spot any differences in detail. For collectors, this overlap is handy, because an inventory for one gets you very close to the other. It also means a spare part from one set will usually find a home in the other.

Using this page

If you have a loose copy, the parts list shows every element with colour and quantity so you can check for missing pieces before rebuilding. Many parts in this set, from beams and pins to axles and connectors, are standard Technic elements that fit into countless other models. When you fancy a change, the “What can I build?” tool compares your inventory with the wider catalogue and suggests sets you could complete, or nearly complete, with what you have.
