A community project, not a studio design

Unlike sets designed in-house, the Old Train Engine Shed began as a submission to the BrickLink Designer Program, where builders pitch original models and a jury selects the winners for official production. That origin shows in the level of detail: at 2,339 pieces, this is a far denser build than a typical set of comparable size, with brickwork, roof trusses and window frames clearly modelled on real industrial railway architecture rather than a simplified, toy-style version of one.

A brick and mortar colour scheme

Black, reddish brown, medium nougat and dark orange give the shed the look of an ageing brick structure you might still find beside a disused branch line. Reddish brown and dark orange carry the main walls, black picks out beams and metalwork, and nougat adds timber and weathering tones.
