Description
The droid that started a battle
At the start of The Empire Strikes Back, the Empire scatters probe droids across the galaxy in search of the Rebel Alliance. One of them lands in the snow on Hoth, spots the hidden Echo Base and transmits its findings before Han Solo and Chewbacca can destroy it. The Imperial assault on Hoth follows soon after. With its black body and dangling arms, the probe droid is one of the most recognisable machines in the original trilogy, despite only a few minutes on screen.
