A monster from Geonosis

Attack of the Clones sends Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala to an execution arena on Geonosis, where three beasts are released to finish them off. The Acklay is the one that goes after Obi-Wan, stalking him on long, blade-like legs. The fight only ends when the Jedi arrive in numbers and the clone army follows, turning a public execution into the opening battle of the Clone Wars. As creatures go, the Acklay is one of the most striking designs of the prequel era.

Shaping a creature

Most small Star Wars sets are vehicles, so building an animal is a pleasant change. Instead of wings and cockpits, the challenge is to give a handful of bricks legs, a body and a head with some personality.
