In The Phantom Menace, the Trade Federation moves its battle droids to the front in large hovering transports. When the MTT reaches its position, its front section opens and a rack of folded droids slides out, which then unfold and march on the Gungan army. The bulbous, beetle-like shape with its large intakes at the front is instantly recognisable, and the mini model captures that rounded, heavy look with a surprisingly small number of pieces.

Why reddish brown matters

Reddish brown heads the colour list, ahead of dark bluish grey, light bluish grey and black. It echoes the brownish hulls of the transports on screen and makes this a rare small Star Wars model not dominated by grey. For builders, reddish brown is one of the most practical colours to own: it covers wood, furniture, tree trunks and rooftops.
