Description

From the Republic to the Rebellion

The Y-wing has a longer history than most Rebel ships. In The Clone Wars animated series it serves as a bomber for the Republic, long before the Rebel Alliance adopts it. By the time of A New Hope it looks old and battered, yet it still flies in the attack on the first Death Star, and Y-wings return for the Battle of Endor in Return of the Jedi. The long twin engines behind a narrow cockpit give the ship its Y shape.
