The X-wing is the fighter the Rebel Alliance relies on through the whole original trilogy. It carries Luke to the Death Star trench, takes him to Dagobah in The Empire Strikes Back, and joins the final assault in Return of the Jedi. Wedge Antilles flies one in all three films. With its four wings locked open into an X for combat, it has one of the clearest outlines of any Star Wars ship, which is exactly what a very small model needs.
