About Pirates I

A new kind of minifigure

Pirates changed what a minifigure could look like. Alongside the familiar smile came beards, eyepatches and stubble, and the pirates added hook hands and peg legs to the range. Pirates I is a sub-theme of Pirates and started in 1989, with re-releases carrying the recorded range to 2002. Its story sets swashbuckling crews against uniformed soldiers, and later waves introduced further groups such as the Islanders.

Ships worth waiting for

Skull's Eye Schooner (6286-1) from 1993 is the largest set at 925 pieces. Black Seas Barracuda first appeared in 1989 as 6285-1 with 915 pieces and returned in 2002 as 10040-1 with 916.
