Characters built from beams and joints
Rather than vehicles with minifigures, these sets recreate the characters themselves at a large scale, using Technic beams, axles and ball joints so the figures can be posed. The first releases in 2000 were droids from The Phantom Menace, such as the Battle Droid (8001-1) with 336 pieces and the Destroyer Droid (8002-1), which at 567 pieces is the largest set in the range. Later figures included the Stormtrooper (8008-1) and C-3PO (8007-1) in 2001, which brought characters from the original trilogy into the line.

The final year brought Jango Fett (8011-1) with 426 pieces, Darth Vader (8010-1) with 388, the Super Battle Droid (8012-1) with 378 and R2-D2 (8009-1) with 239, several of them tied to Attack of the Clones.
