About Thanksgiving
From simple turkeys to table scenes
Thanksgiving falls on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States, and the sets stick closely to its traditions: turkeys, a shared meal and the harvest. The first sets were modest. Turkey (10090-1) from 2003 has just 54 pieces, and the turkeys of 2010 (Thanksgiving Turkey, 40011-1, 53 pieces) and 2012 (Turkey, 40033-1, 52 pieces) stayed at that size. A bigger Turkey (40091-1) arrived in 2014 with 125 pieces. From 2015 the sets moved on to whole scenes: Thanksgiving Feast (40123-1, 158 pieces), Pilgrim's Feast (40204-1, 2016, 163 pieces) and Thanksgiving Harvest (40261-1, 2017, 133 pieces).
A parade float in 2024
The most recent large set breaks the pattern. Macy's Thanksgiving Float (6559432-1) from 2024 has 215 pieces, making it the largest in the theme, and it takes its cue from the famous parade in New York rather than the dinner table. Every set here stays well under 250 pieces, so they suit younger builders and quick seasonal decorating. With several turkeys looking quite alike, the parts lists are useful for telling the editions apart.
