Life under the sea, brick by brick
The theme draws directly on the Nickelodeon cartoon and its cast: SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward, Mr. Krabs, Plankton and Mrs. Puff. The minifigures were adapted to match the show, with SpongeBob himself given a square body. Most sets focus on familiar locations rather than one-off scenes, which makes them easy to combine into a small underwater town.
Rival restaurants and a boating school
Two sets face off across the street just as they do in the show. Krusty Krab (3825-1) from 2006 has 298 pieces, while The Chum Bucket (4981-1) from 2007, Plankton’s failing restaurant, has 337. Mrs. Puff's Boating School (4982-1, 394 pieces) also arrived in 2007. Good Neighbors at Bikini Bottom (3834-1, 425 pieces) from 2009 lines up the homes of SpongeBob, Patrick and Squidward, including SpongeBob’s pineapple.
