Three regions, one year

Orient Expedition is a sub-theme of Adventurers and its final major wave. Rather than focusing on a single location, it follows Johnny Thunder's team through several: a palace and elephant caravan evoke India, a yeti and a mountain temple stand for the Himalayas, and a dragon fortress and an emperor's ship point to China. That variety is what sets it apart from the Desert and Jungle waves, each of which stayed in one setting. Built together, the sets read almost like a travel route, starting at an Indian palace and ending in the snow of the Himalayas.

Headline sets

Dragon Fortress (7419-1) is by far the largest model at 781 pieces, more than twice the size of Scorpion Palace (7418-1) with 380. Temple of Mount Everest (7417-1) has 310 pieces and Emperor's Ship (7416-1) has 181. Together these four cover the main scenes of the story, and each one represents a different stop on the journey. With 28 sets released in a single year, Orient Expedition is slightly larger than the Desert wave, which has 26 sets spread over four years.

The supporting cast

Aero Nomad (7415-1) brings 124 pieces, Yeti's Hideout (7412-1) 117, Elephant Caravan (7414-1) 109 and Passage of Jun-Chi (7413-1) 104. The eight largest sets carry consecutive numbers from 7412 to 7419, so the core range is easy to track. The remaining sets in the theme are all smaller than these, and they work well as links between the big scenes on a display shelf.
