About Aquanauts
Heroes of the deep
Aquanauts launched in 1995 alongside the Aquasharks, the rival faction trying to get hold of the same crystals. That rivalry sets the tone for the whole range: working subs, exploration craft and a research base, all built around finding and hauling crystals. Both factions sit under the Aquazone umbrella theme, which later added Aquaraiders, Hydronauts and Stingrays.
Biggest builds first
Neptune Discovery Lab (6195-1) leads at 509 pieces, well ahead of Sea Claw 7 (1822-1) with 191 and Crystal Explorer Sub (6175-1) with 167. Crystal Crawler appears twice in 1996, as 1728-1 with 97 pieces and as 6145-1 with 96. At the small end are Sea Sprint 9 (6125-1) with 32 pieces, plus Paravane (1749-1) and Underwater Scooter (1806-1) with 16 each.
Restoring an old sub
