About Belville
A theme with its own figures
Belville was aimed mainly at girls and used its own larger, more poseable figures instead of standard minifigures. Its world is domestic and gentle: houses and gardens, holidays, horses and, in some sets, princesses and mermaids. The sets are designed around role play, with rooms and scenes for the characters to use. Many pair a building with animals, furniture and small accessories for everyday scenes.
Early years: homes and holidays
Pretty Wishes Playhouse (5890-1) dates from the very first year, 1994, and has 236 pieces. Villa Belville (5895-1) followed in 1996 with 339 pieces, and Family Yacht / Luxury Cruiser (5848-1) took the families to sea in 1998 with 234. Like most of the larger Belville sets, these land between roughly 200 and 350 pieces, so none of them is a long build.
Later years: fairy tales and a final house
Fairy-tale settings play a bigger role in later sets. The Enchanted Palace (5808-1) from 1999 has 228 pieces and The Mermaid Castle (5960-1) from 2005 has 240, while Doll House (5940-1) from 2004 returned to everyday life with 217. The largest Belville set came right at the end: Sunshine Home (7586-1) from 2008 with 457 pieces, released alongside the 224-piece Horse Stable (7585-1). Even the biggest set stays below 500 pieces.
