Tall ship at the top
The sailing ship U.S.S. Constellation (398-1) from 1978 is the largest model at 982 pieces. A second set of the same name, U.S.S. Constellation (10021-1), is dated 2003 and has 975 pieces; it is the reason the theme's date range stretches so far beyond the 1970s. The Thatcher Perkins Locomotive (396-1) from 1976, a replica of a historic American steam engine, ranks third with 433 pieces.
Cars and a motorbike
The earliest sets, from 1975, are 1926 Renault (391-1, 237 pieces), 1913 Cadillac (390-2, 200) and Formula 1 (392-1, 197). In 1976 came the 1909 Rolls-Royce (395-1) with 284 pieces and the Harley-Davidson 1000cc (394-1) with 144. They are models to put on a shelf rather than toys to push around the floor, and their parts lists show how much detail was achieved with the elements of the day. The range has no parent theme and stands on its own.
