About Technic

Where this fits

The main Technic theme is full of cranes, excavators and cars. This page is different: it belongs under Service Packs and contains only parts packs. They were aimed at builders who wanted more of the functional elements that make Technic work, whether to motorise a model, lengthen a track or build something of their own. The date range, 1977 to 2000, covers the first two decades or so of the Technic system. For anyone restoring a vintage Technic model today, these packs are a useful reference when a chain link or joint has gone missing.

Chains and tracks

The two largest packs are TECHNIC Chainlinks (1229-1) from 1982 and its 1987 counterpart (5243-1), both with 70 pieces. TECHNIC Bulldozer Chainlinks follows at 54 pieces, again listed twice: as 1230-1 from 1982 and 5244-1 from 1987. These links were used both as drive chains and as tracks for tracked vehicles.
