Hockey was the ice-rink branch of the Sports theme, with 19 sets released across 2003 and 2004. Much of the range carried the name of the NHL, North America's professional league.

About Hockey
A short, licensed run
The theme lasted just two years, which makes it one of the more compact corners of Sports. The 2003 wave laid the groundwork with small action sets such as Puck Passer (3540-1, 46 pieces), Slap Shot (3541-1, 47 pieces) and Flip Shot (3542-1, 48 pieces), alongside the NHL Action Set with Stickers (10127-1, 59 pieces). Their names say what they do: each one adds a single way of moving the puck.
From rink to street
The bigger boxes turn those pieces into complete games. Game Set (3544-1, 147 pieces) and Puck Feeder (3545-1, 152 pieces) arrived in 2003, and 2004 brought two more: NHL Street Hockey (3579-1, 116 pieces), which takes the game off the ice, and NHL Championship Challenge (3578-1), which tops the list at 396 pieces.
Rebuilding the rink today
