About Friends
Life in Heartlake City
Launched in 2012, Friends centres on a group of friends and their everyday lives: homes, cafés, schools, vet clinics, stables, holidays and hobbies. The theme uses its own mini-doll figures, taller and slimmer than standard minifigures, and a bright palette full of turquoise, lavender, pink and lime. Animals play a big part, from small pet sets to horse and rescue builds, and many sets are designed to connect into a larger town. Over more than a decade the line has covered homes, shops, a school, camper vans and holiday spots, so the town keeps growing in many directions at once.
Bigger buildings over time
The theme has grown steadily in scale. Heartlake Grand Hotel (41101-1) already reached 1,572 pieces in 2015. Main Street Building (41704-1) followed in 2022 with 1,682 pieces, and 2023 brought Downtown Flower and Design Stores (41732-1, 2,010 pieces) and Heartlake City Community Center (41748-1, 1,513 pieces). The current record holder is Andrea's Modern Mansion (42639-1) from 2024 with 2,275 pieces, ahead of Heartlake City Apartments and Stores (42670-1, 2,040 pieces) from 2025.
Still going in 2026
New sets keep arriving. The catalogue already lists Garden Restaurant (42691-1, 1,465 pieces) and Heartlake City Grand Hotel (42704-1, 1,411 pieces) for 2026, the latter returning to a hotel, one of the theme's best-known subjects.
